I mean, we\u2019ve seen it being done in pornos a hell of a lot. Sorry to kill your dream.)<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But is this sex act a reality for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lesbian women<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">? Indeed it is\u2026for some. Some women enjoy it and practice it, while others aren\u2019t too fond of it (just like any other sexual act or position). Scissoring, or a form of tribbing, isn\u2019t the equivalent of missionary sex for heterosexuals.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For some, it\u2019s a thrilling and erotic experience, but for others &#8211; it\u2019s merely tiresome and difficult. From the awkward postures of both women, to staying in sync and keeping it up until climax, it can be hard work. Additionally, scissoring for plus-sized women, and those who aren\u2019t very flexible, can be difficult.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scissoring however, is on the rise, as <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sexologist Mal Harrison<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> says:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cFifteen years ago, scissoring just wasn\u2019t something commonly discussed in lesbian circles, nor amongst my lesbian and <\/span><\/i><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/10-myths-bisexuality-need-to-end\/\"><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bisexual clients<\/span><\/i><\/a><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u201d<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">She goes on to say:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">\u201cNow, I frequently hear it mentioned as part of the repertoire, simply because people are getting more of their ideas and sex ed from porn.\u201d <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Makes sense.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to Practice Scissoring<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re hoping to try scissoring, or you\u2019re simply intrigued\u2026 here are two different ways you can enjoy it:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Scissoring Position One: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Both women should be on their back and have their legs spread open in such a position that it allows direct contact and the ability to straddle each other\u2019s vulva (i.e. one woman\u2019s thigh is placed underneath the other\u2019s). Each woman will then use their own or their partner\u2019s leg as a grip, to help them create movement.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For those whose vulva is higher up, a sitting position has proven to be more pleasurable, while those with a lower vulva find it easier to enjoy it lying down opposite their partner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><b>Scissoring Position Two:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Alternatively, you could try scissoring with one partner on their side, where their one thigh is held up and the other is straddled across the resting leg.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Basically, it\u2019s about interlacing your legs so that you can gain direct access and stimulation to each other\u2019s vulvas.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scissoring in Porn: The Male Gaze<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For many, including <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.imdb.com\/name\/nm8333047\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">adult porn star, Rina Ellis<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, scissoring or tribbing is an act that\u2019s been sexualized by the male gaze, especially in porn. In fact, many women agree that this kind of sexual act is impractical, and is more of a male <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">fantasy<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s also true that in 2008, around only <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/meet-cindy-gallop-the-woman-wh-thinks-we-should-make-love-not-porn\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5% of porn directors were women<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> &#8211; a number that is rising ever so slowly, making the industry largely male-focused. This has given <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">bi-curious<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> women the idea that this is what <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/sex-between-women-how-do-lesbians-have-sex\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lesbian sex<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is all about. There is a lack of representation, which ultimately stunts the development of lesbian sexuality.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Having said that, I pose the question: is lesbian porn actually<\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> made<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for lesbians? It appears not. Instead, it is a heteronormative way in which to portray women experimenting with one another, often using phallic-like toys, like a dildo, or bringing a man into the scene.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Scissoring and Intimacy<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Another way in which to look at scissoring, is from the perspective of <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Reba Harrison, a bisexual woman, and writer<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. She believes that the act of scissoring inhibits the ability to be intimate with a partner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">This is because oftentimes, two women engaging in this sexual act face away from each other. Not only that, but it makes the ability to <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">kiss one another<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> virtually impossible, and makes it hard to stimulate other erogenous zones.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But then again, everyone is different! And if you are interested in trying or experimenting more with tribbing, here are three different positions to get you started:<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Different Tribbing Positions<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">As distinguished, tribbing isn\u2019t actually scissoring. Rather, it\u2019s an umbrella term. Which is why there are various ways in which two women can enjoy tribbing:<\/span><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li><b> Missionary Style Tribbing: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It is\u2026 what it sounds like. Two women who are on top of each other, face to face, and persist to dry hump each other. This is a more intimate position, as it allows eye contact and kissing.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b> Woman-On-Top Tribbing:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Similar to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/the-missionary-position-why-do-we-love-to-hate-it\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">missionary,<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> but this is when one woman rides the other by rubbing her vulva on her partner\u2019s vulva.<\/span><\/li>\n<li><b> Hump Tribbing: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">One of the easier and more common types of tribbing, this is when one woman straddles their partner\u2019s leg, giving her more contact, thus more pleasure. It\u2019s simple. Women know their bodies. They know where <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/clit-literate-learning-truth-behind-anatomical-wonder\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the clitoris<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is, how to stimulate it in such a way that orgasm is achieved, and they can usually do it without (any) direction from their partner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Not only that, but the rate at which women <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">orgasm<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> via clitoral stimulation is extremely high as opposed to penetrative sex. Women are also more predisposed to communication and emotional connections as opposed to men.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some men also tend to have a warped sense of what a woman wants, how she behaves in the bedroom, and how to satisfy a woman, as shown in male-centred porn films.
