A simple gander on <\/span>Twitter<\/span><\/i> will leave you with a slew of somewhat hilarious tweets talking about the game: <\/span>\u2018Sex Toy or Dog Toy?\u2019<\/span><\/i> where users agree that their dog\u2019s favorite chew toy has a strong resemblance to their intimate human toy.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Pets Begging for Sex Toys<\/span><\/h2>\n

Before we dive into some real-life cases of animals having their fun with adult toys, the most pressing question is\u2026 why do our pets yearn for our sex toys? Dr. Elizabeth Myers, a veterinarian in Toronto, admits that at least 25% of animals she treats is due to sex toy-related issues.\u00a0\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

She weighs in on the subject by giving three possible reasons why our beloved pets are drawn to our intimate toys.<\/span><\/p>\n

1. A sex toy and a chew\/play toy is similar in shape, colour, and size<\/span><\/h3>\n

Once you realize that the majority of chew toys strongly resemble that of a sex toy, it\u2019ll be difficult to ever forget it.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

When looking at the shape, color, and size of most sex toys vs. your pup\u2019s favorite chew toy, for example, the resemblance is uncanny. Additionally, thanks to the <\/span>various agents and treatments used to cure the silicone<\/a><\/span>, <\/span>sex toys often smell quite nice too<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not only that, but the texture is really satisfying for cats to sharpen their claws on, and they\u2019re often the perfect size for a dog to steal. Once stolen, your dog could interpret you trying to get it back as some sort of <\/span>game<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

2. A sex toy contains our smell<\/span><\/h3>\n

The number one reason why pets are drawn to sex toys, according to Dr. Myers, is the fact that it contains our smell.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

In actuality, you could even take it as a compliment if your pet ever does grab hold of your toy, as it probably means they like or love you a whole lot.<\/span><\/p>\n

3. An act of vengeance\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n

Some believe that the reason why pets are finding solace in sex toys is because they\u2019re <\/span>seeking revenge<\/span>. Perhaps the noises it makes, or the time spent in pleasure as opposed to with them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

But, is this a valid argument?<\/span><\/p>\n

Well, interestingly, it\u2019s not just humans that plot revenge. There are a handful of animals that too seek vengeance.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

According to Stephen Beckerman, a Penn State anthropologist:<\/span><\/p>\n

\u201cWidespread in the animal kingdom is the behavior of returning injury for injury. Animals as varied and as far from us as blue-footed boobies, elephant seals, side-striped jackals and European moorhens are called punishers. They regularly respond to injuries by attacking the culprit who has injured them\u201d.<\/span><\/i><\/p>\n

With that, it\u2019s not been proven that cats and dogs act out of spite. Dogs especially are animals that like to live in the moment and are not waiting for the satisfaction attached to receiving a reaction out of you.<\/span><\/p>\n

S, while some may believe that their pet is able to undergo acts as a means to seek revenge, this notion hasn\u2019t been scientifically proven, making this possible reason null and void.<\/span><\/p>\n

How Can We Stop Our Pets Chewing Our Sex Toys?<\/span><\/h2>\n

There are a few things pet owners can do to try and prevent this phenomenon from happening at home.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

These preventative measures are actually really important because while quality sex toys are made from medical-grade, body-safe silicone, they\u2019re not necessarily safe for ingesting. So:<\/span><\/p>\n
