According to <\/span>Sean M. Horan Ph.D<\/span><\/a>, the question of how often individuals wear condoms was answered with \u201c<\/span>sometimes<\/span><\/i>\u201d. His 2016 study revealed an average of 3.06 out of five (five being always), which lets us know that condoms are not always used, but not always ignored either.<\/span><\/p>\n

This study also found that the participants were less likely to use a condom during <\/span>anal sex<\/span><\/a>, and even less likely to wear a condom during foreplay.<\/span><\/p>\n

Horan underwent a different study in 2018, where the likelihood of condom use was found at 3.56 out of five (five being always), which is almost on-par with his earlier study. These two studies show a trend that hasn\u2019t changed much at all over the period of two to three years.<\/span><\/p>\n

What was particularly interesting however, was Horan\u2019s 2017 study which looked at the reasons <\/span>why<\/span><\/i> people chose not to use condoms. One of these reasons was the fact that they were <\/span>not sufficiently educated about the spread of STI\u2019s and HIV<\/span> which lead to a misconception of sexual risk.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

With this result, it\u2019s evident that there needs to be more open and honest communication and education when it comes to <\/span>sexual risks and safety<\/span>.<\/span><\/p>\n

Condom Storage: <\/b>The best possible place to store condoms is in a cool, dry spot that\u2019s not in direct sunlight. It\u2019s better not to keep a condom in a wallet, as friction could cause wear and tear leading to less effectiveness.<\/span><\/p>\n

Expiry Date:<\/b> Condoms expire. Don\u2019t rely on one you\u2019ve had in your nightstand for five years, always check the date.<\/span><\/p>\n
