We’re dedicating National Orgasm Day to <\/span>bridging the orgasm gap<\/a>, and the first step in doing so is<\/span>\u00a0understanding the differences in our physiological and sexual habits.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

First things first\u2014who\u2019s taking our survey?<\/span><\/h3>\n

\"orgasm<\/p>\n

Unsurprisingly, our survey is being filled out by over 82<\/strong><\/span>%<\/b> females<\/b> and\u00a0 1<\/strong><\/span>5%<\/b> males<\/b>. Overall, age range 31<\/strong><\/span>-40<\/strong> is most actively taking the quiz (30<\/strong><\/span>%<\/strong>), followed by <\/span>25-30<\/b> (<\/span>27%<\/b>), <\/span>18-24<\/b> (<\/span>19%<\/b>) and so forth. We say unsurprisingly because this quiz has thus far only been promoted through social media, and our social media following is predominantly women. Interestingly enough, however, our purchasing behavior is split pretty evenly. So is our blog readership, so we\u2019re curious to see how this data changes with your help.<\/span><\/p>\n

It\u2019s also pretty neat to see how far our quiz has reached. Of course, English speaking countries (the U.S., Canada, U.K. and Australia) are dominating, but we\u2019ve also had submissions from Finland, Uzbekistan, Georgia and Kenya. Point in case\u2014<\/span>masturbation is a natural<\/span><\/a> (and healthy) tendency of the human race, regardless of where you come from.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"orgasm<\/p>\n

Now let\u2019s get to the juicer stuff. How are people orgasming?<\/span><\/h3>\n

When it comes to our respondents\u2019 <\/span>first<\/span><\/i> orgasms, <\/span>80%<\/b> experienced them through <\/span>masturbation<\/b> and almost 18<\/strong><\/span>%<\/b> through <\/span>partnered sex<\/b>. When it comes to masturbation, <\/span>clitoral stimulation<\/b> takes the cake by a landslide (<\/span>43%<\/b>), and in second place is <\/span>combination stimulation<\/b> through clitoral and vaginal or anal (<\/span>27%<\/b>). That means that a whopping <\/span>70%<\/b> of people are cumming via some form of clitoral stimulation. Unfortunately, the current sexual narrative focuses only on penetrative stimulation (which can still be amazing), so we need to start talking about pleasure in a more holistic sense.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

And if our partners aren\u2019t willing to get cliterate<\/a>, it\u2019s time to <\/span>take pleasure into our own hands<\/span><\/a> because it is Orgasm Month after all. Sexual wellness is part of our overall health, and with all the <\/span>benefits that sex<\/span><\/a>, masturbation and orgasms bring, the reason why LELO makes quality pleasure makers is a given. It\u2019s the ultimate act of self-love.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

Ever heard of the quote \u201cask and you shall receive?\u201d Of course you have, but when it comes to discussing sexual preferences with a partner, <\/span>16%<\/b> of respondents have <\/span>never done it<\/b>. This is predominantly because they <\/span>feel embarrassed<\/b> or because their <\/span>partners aren\u2019t open to this kind of conversation<\/b>. <\/span>Communication<\/span><\/a> should be used as a tool for better sex, and these conversations should start outside of the bedroom so that you’re not pressured in the heat of the moment. Make sure you\u2019re speaking the same love language, reminisce on the great sex you\u2019ve had together, and normalize communication as part of your romantic relationship, <\/span>FWB<\/span><\/a> or whatever it may be.<\/span><\/p>\n

Have you faked it?<\/span><\/h3>\n

Believe it or not (believe it\u2014we have the data), <\/span>65%<\/b> of respondents have <\/span>faked an orgasm<\/b>. Of those who have faked it, <\/span>28%<\/b> report faking it \u201c<\/span>almost never<\/b>\u201d while <\/span>25%<\/b> report faking it \u201c<\/span>sometimes<\/b>\u201d. It makes sense that faking orgasms it detrimental to any long-term relationship because you\u2019re encouraging your partner to continue when they could be making changes that would enhance the experience for both of you.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

There are three primary reasons why we <\/span>fake orgasms<\/span><\/a>; 1. We want our partners to feel successful, 2. We want to end it because we\u2019re tired or bored, and 3. We don\u2019t want to make our partners feel bad because we like them. The team that conducted this <\/span>research<\/span><\/a> chalks up the underlying reason to why we fake it as, once again, a lack of communication. Another interesting finding is that women who felt more comfortable using the word \u201c<\/span>clitoris<\/span><\/a>\u201d had higher overall sexual satisfaction. So say it with us now\u2014CLITORIS, CLITORIS, CLITORIS. See, it’s getting better already.<\/span><\/p>\n

Have you admitted that you\u2019ve faked it?<\/span><\/h3>\n

When it comes to <\/span>telling our partners<\/b> we\u2019ve faked an orgasm, only <\/span>25%<\/b> have, but when it comes to <\/span>telling our friends<\/b> that we\u2019ve faked it, <\/span>66%<\/b> of us have. The moral of the story here is to keep your friends close, and talking about your preferred sexual preferences with your partner closer.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

A majority of participants (59<\/strong><\/span>%<\/b>) also admitted to <\/span>feeling pressure to climax quickly<\/b> when their partner\u2019s attention was focused solely on their pleasure. As much as we encourage you to show your partner what you like, it\u2019s not all about you. Reciprocate! Knowing what <\/span>each other<\/span><\/i> like means better sex and more orgasms for everyone.<\/span><\/p>\n
