Do You Aspire to Be in One?<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, we\u2019re going to dive into how <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">mindfulness<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> can strengthen romantic relationships as well as different ways that you can practice mindfulness in order to improve and enjoy the very best connection with your partner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Whether you\u2019re currently in a relationship or you\u2019re aspiring to be in one, these tips will help you to be your very best self while co-existing with another human being. This technique is sometimes known as MBRE (Mindfulness-Based Relationship Enhancement).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s a way in which to help prevent escalated arguments and to use calming reactions to talk through and solve disagreements.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mindfulness-Based Relationship Enhancement<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">To take this technique on-board, you\u2019ll be aware of, and practice, four different elements:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Mindfulness:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Accepting and addressing all situations, good and bad, in the present without over-reacting.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Acceptance: <\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Accepting the situation in the present in a compassionate and empathetic manner.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Relaxation:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Using relaxation to reduce <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">anxiety<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, anger and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/heres-what-stress-does-to-your-sex-life-what-you-can-do-about-it\/\">stress<\/a> in order to experience feelings of well-being and calm.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\"><b>Self-Broadening:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Implementing a feeling of trust, connection and love for those around you.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In this way, you should be able to recognize negative reactions and attitudes that you may be practicing within your relationship and learn how to change these responses.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You should also be able to prevent making a mountain out of a mole hole and face bigger challenges without being completely overwhelmed. The goal is to see things in an objective and proactive manner, and to avoid reactive behavior.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How to Use Mindfulness to Strengthen Your Relationship<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Practicing MBRE is not solely focused on how to be better with your partner. It\u2019s also a way in which to be better, more empathetic, less anxious, and more open and present with yourself. This will then automatically add constructive elements and behaviors to your relationship.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Here are nine techniques you could start practicing today that\u2019ll make a big difference in the quality of your relationship&#8230;\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">1. Unplug<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Phones, while exceedingly useful and entertaining, actually have the ability to disconnect us from the people in our lives. Try to cut down on phone time when you\u2019re with your partner to increase togetherness and to be in the moment. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/communication-as-a-tool-for-better-sex\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Talk to each other<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">2. Listen<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In a world saturated with <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">selfies<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, \u2018likes\u2019 and follows, there\u2019s no better time than to actually listen. Instead of sitting down with racing thoughts while your partner speaks, try to forget about what you want to say next and simply listen. Engage, ask questions, be present.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">3. Be Grateful<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you make a choice to actively notice how your partner (and the universe) is spoiling you, big or small, you\u2019ll be able to feel gratefulness and happiness more often.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For example, If your partner cooks you a lovely meal or initiates a <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/35-first-date-ideas-and-everything-you-need-to-know-about-acing-a-first-date\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">date night<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, these are the things that are being kindly gifted to you. Appreciate them and show your appreciation.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">4. Silence and Reflection<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Being together, in person or apart, doesn\u2019t mean that you need to engage in constant conversation. Sometimes, merely having time to be <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">silent<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and reflect is a great way in which to recharge and to bring about calmness and relaxation as an individual.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It will also bring about the closeness between the two of you in that you need not fill every bit of silence in the room but can enjoy each other\u2019s company simply by being together.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">5. Rational Responding<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s easy to lash out, scream, feel overwhelmed or have sport racing thoughts when challenges or arguments come about. Instead, take a moment to take a deep breath and take the time that you need in order to collect your thoughts and respond in a way that\u2019s rational.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So often people speak without thinking or out of pure emotion, and this often leads to regret, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/sex-so-good-you-felt-bad\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">shame<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, or embarrassment. Talking or arguing whilst full of strong emotions is rarely the best way to go about solving an issue.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take your time, and when you\u2019ve rationalized your thoughts and feelings, come back and talk about the issues at hand.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">6. Thoughtfulness\u00a0<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Create a two-way street of love and care by finding out what your partner loves or what makes them feel good.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Use these ideas to spoil them every once in a while and make them feel appreciated. Both partners should commit to doing these acts of love.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">7. Verbal Appreciation<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Some may find it difficult to express themselves verbally, in which case even a text message could suffice. On a daily basis, try to say something kind to your partner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It could be something as small as thanking them for doing the dishes the night before, or <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">something more sexy<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, like how they pleased you in bed.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">8. Reverse Roles<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Being able to think about or see things from other people\u2019s perspectives is a great tool in which to be objective and empathetic. When you find yourself in a situation that bothers you, think about how your partner must be feeling.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Maybe they\u2019ve gotten a new job in a new city which they\u2019re very excited about, yet you feel as though your world is crashing down. A relationship is about give and take, and it\u2019s important to realize that this is something exciting yet also conflicting for them.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Together, compromise and a different point of view can help you to solve an issue.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">9. Bond<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Did you know that when you look into someone\u2019s eyes, your body releases the hormone oxytocin? This is essentially the \u2018love\u2019 hormone which <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">increases the feeling of closeness<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">. Try to spend a few minutes a day, or as often as you can, looking into the eyes of your partner as a tool to strengthen your bond.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">At the end of the day, relationships take work.
