You can imagine why.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cool thing about the pelvic floor is that like any group of muscles, you can train and strengthen it.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The most fun way you can do that is by of course \u2013\u00a0orgasming. Orgasms help tone the walls of the vagina and prepare the pelvic floor for birth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Outside of the benefits of oxytocin, orgasms can help people in other ways before they begin labor.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2>Reducing Stress<\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The end of pregnancy can be stressful and overwhelming, or every combination of human emotions. Some ways people help to combat stress during late pregnancy are by lowering the lights, using calming essential oils, getting in a hot shower or tub, and reciting birth affirmations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Orgasms can also help to <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/pmc\/articles\/PMC5052677\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">reduce stress and cortisol levels<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, which in turn helps increase oxytocin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clitoral stimulation during pregnancy can help the pregnant person to shift their focus to their vagina and pelvis. While these are produced naturally in the birthing person\u2019s body, they are also present in semen. That is why some people suggest penis in vagina intercourse as a means of helping to induce labor.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">That being said, you most likely will not want to have penetrative sex after labor starts, whether that\u2019s with a penis or a toy. This is especially important to avoid once your water breaks, as it could increase your risk of infection by introducing bacteria into the vaginal canal.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3>Make it Easy<\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While sex toys aren\u2019t necessary in order to reap the benefits of arousal during pregnancy, they sure do make it easier.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When someone\u2019s body is changing rapidly, it may be difficult to masturbate or have sex how they normally do.
