Not to mention that schools that teach abstinence actually have higher rates of teen pregnancy? I digress (but isn\u2019t that crazy?).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Coming back to porn and erotic content\u2026 while many of us do agree that viewing it is <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/men-vs-women-why-and-how-do-we-experience-sexual-arousal\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">arousing<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, it\u2019s also true that it can give us a warped view of what sex and <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">intimacy<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> actually look like.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You see, when we\u2019re watching or reading this kind of content, we see words like \u2018pussy\u2019 being thrown around as a means to name the female genitalia. And so, we think that\u2019s the sexy way to talk about a woman\u2019s sweet spot, not really knowing that this beautiful part of the female anatomy is so much more than that.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Never mind the fact that a vagina isn\u2019t the entirety of what you see. It\u2019s simply one part of the entire female sexual anatomy.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In fact, <\/span><b>the female sexual anatomy consists of the<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vulva<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/good-in-hood-things-you-didnt-know-about-the-clitoris\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Clitoris<\/span><\/a><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Labia Majora<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Labia Minora<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Vagina<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Mons Pubis<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Cervix<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">G-Spot<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> (Grafenberg Spot)<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Urethra<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Hymen<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pelvic Floor<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Bartholin\u2019s Glands<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">So today we\u2019re going to enjoy a little lesson on female sexual anatomy.<\/span><\/p>\n<h1><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is the Vagina?<\/span><\/h1>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The vagina is an elastic, muscular canal that\u2019s around three inches long with a soft, flexible lining that produces <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/vaginal-discharge\/\">natural <\/a><\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">lubrication<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and sensation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s the part of the female anatomy that connects the uterus to the outside, and thus it starts at the vaginal opening and ends inside the body, at the cervix (the lower part of the uterus).<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The vagina is the part of the female anatomy that can expand and contract, and accommodates the penis (as well as fingers, tampons, <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/menstrual-cup-can-make-sex-better\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">menstrual cups<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and internal <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sex toys<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">) during penetration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">It\u2019s also the part of the body that expands in order to allow for childbirth, and is the opening through which professionals can check the health of one\u2019s cervix. The vagina too is where blood exits the body during menstruation.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then there\u2019s the hymen, which is a thin, fleshy tissue that can be found at the opening of the vagina. For many, a woman who still has her hymen intact is considered a virgin.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Today, however, the world is rethinking the notion of virginity as a social construct, and that when penetration takes place for the first time, nothing is actually lost. Thus, \u2018breaking\u2019 one\u2019s hymen need not change one\u2019s identity or level of self-worth.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">But, as we mentioned, this is only one part of the female sexual anatomy.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Female Sexual Anatomy: The Urethral Opening<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Contrary to what many believe, there are actually two openings in the vulva. One is the vaginal opening and the other is the opening to the urethra.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The urethral opening is a tiny hole located just below your clitoris, and is the hole from which pee comes out of. The vaginal opening, as we mentioned, is where menstrual blood and babies exit, and is where things are inserted for <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">penetration<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Female Sexual Anatomy: The Cervix<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The cervix connects the uterus to the vagina. There\u2019s a small hole in the cervix which allows blood and <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/sperm-facts\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">sperm<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to pass though, and it is the cervix that dilates during childbirth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When a woman is aroused, her vagina will expand, allowing the cervix to lift upward, which will then elongate the vagina (otherwise known as \u2018tenting\u2019).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Natural lubrication is also created when a woman is aroused, and this is with the help of the Bartholin\u2019s glands that sit on either side of the vaginal opening.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Female Sexual Anatomy: The G-Spot<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The G-spot<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is a hot spot for women because, when stimulated, it can induce all kinds of delicious orgasms. This spot can be found a few inches inside of the vagina, more so at the front (towards your belly).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When a woman is aroused, their G-spot will swell, making it easier to find and easier to stimulate. Today, there are various<\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/review-round-lelo-gigi-2\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> sex toys that specifically target the G-spot<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, allowing women to experience new waves of climatic bliss.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Female Sexual Anatomy: The Vulva<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Often what people <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">think<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> is the vagina, is actually the vulva. It\u2019s fatty tissue that forms beneath the skin, protecting the junction where the pubic bones meet.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Female Sexual Anatomy: The Clitoris<\/span><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The clitoris is arguably the most erotic erogenous zone when it comes to the female anatomy, as it only serves one purpose: pleasure!\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Indeed, <\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">the clitoris is extremely sensitive<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, loaded with nerve endings, making it a zone for uninhibited sexual euphoria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">And interestingly, did you know that the clitoris is not just the pea-sized structure found on the outside, at the top of a woman\u2019s vulva? A female\u2019s pelvic floor muscles support the bladder, bowel, and the uterus.\u00a0<\/span><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The main function of the pelvic floor is to help maintain urinary and faecal continence. <\/span>By doing pelvic floor exercises one can reduce the chance of incontinence and enjoy stronger and more powerful orgasms as well.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Additionally, pelvic floor exercises will help to strengthen and tighten the pelvic floor in women after childbirth.
