You realize you have to pee, but think \u201cI can hold it a little longer, at least until there\u2019s a real bathroom.\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then, nothing. Nowhere to pull over or turn out. Just you in your car with a growing sense of urgency and panic setting in. Minutes feel like hours and you\u2019re starting to question all of your life\u2019s decisions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Then, hallelujah! You find a bathroom and are barely able to pull your pants down in time. As you drain your pipes, the panic fades and is strangely replaced with a sense of euphoria and deep pleasure.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You may have experienced a \u201cpeegasm\u201d. And yes \u2013 it\u2019s exactly what it sounds like.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Are peegasms real?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Let\u2019s get this out of the way first. While a peegasm may feel great at the moment, holding your pee can increase your risk of developing UTIs and bladder infections. More on that later!<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When we say peegasm, we mean you experience an orgasm or sexual pleasure while peeing.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">There is very little research on orgasming from peeing, but personal experience does matter. Many people report having an orgasm or feeling deep pleasure occasionally when urinating. This is more common when you have to go really badly, like in the scenario we described earlier.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Take a gander around Reddit and you\u2019ll find people looking for answers about why this happens or if it happens to anyone else. You\u2019ll also find people calling it \u201cpiss shivers\u201d or comparing it to \u201cASMR tingles\u201d. Both men and women say they\u2019ve experienced this sensation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While peegasm definitely isn\u2019t a scientific term, it\u2019s probably the best way to describe the very unique sensation that can come when you realllllly gotta go.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Orgasmic incontinence<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">On the other hand, there is some research on people who happen to pee when they orgasm. This is called orgasmic or <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/pubmed.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov\/21477016\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">coital incontinence<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and is actually more common than you may think.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">About <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mayoclinichealthsystem.org\/hometown-health\/speaking-of-health\/is-urine-incontinence-normal-for-women#:~:text=Urine%20incontinence%2C%20or%20the%20involuntary,affects%2050%25%20of%20adult%20women.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">50%<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of adult women have urinary incontinence, with that number increasing in people over age 65. Approximately <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.denverurology.com\/urology-blog\/peeing-during-sex-is-very-common-is-it-urination-or-orgasm\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">60%<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of those with incontinence also experience peeing or leaking during sex.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Urinary incontinence can develop in people who have given birth, experienced pelvic floor injuries, have a UTI, or are on certain medications. While it\u2019s nothing to be ashamed of, incontinence is something that can be incredibly stressful or shameful for someone experiencing it, whether it\u2019s during sex or sneezing in the grocery store.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Now that we\u2019ve cleared that up, let\u2019s get back to the topic at hand.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>Is a peegasm the same as squirting?<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You might be thinking \u201cIsn\u2019t peeing during sex just squirting?\u201d\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Many people still doubt whether <a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/squirting-its-not-what-you-think\/\">squirting is even real or if it\u2019s just a stunt<\/a> in unrealistic porn scenes. It is real, and it is not the same as peeing.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For an estimated <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.iflscience.com\/female-squirting-is-mainly-made-up-of-urine-study-finds-65373#:~:text=Typically%2C%20if%20urinary%20incontinence%20happens,expelled%20is%201%2D900%20ml.\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">10-54%<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of women, squirting is a normal part of sex but that doesn\u2019t mean that they\u2019re peeing. While \u201csquirt\u201d does have some urine in it, that\u2019s not all that it is.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">When someone squirts, they expel liquid from their urethra. This liquid is largely made up of urine, but it also contains fluid from the Skene\u2019s gland, which is sometimes considered the \u201cfemale prostate\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While orgasmic incontinence can feel like a loss of control, many people who squirt have some control over it and describe it as a pleasurable \u201crelease\u201d.<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>\u201cPee kinks\u201d<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">No article about peegasms would be complete without addressing the elephant in the room \u2013 pee kinks. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lelo.com\/blog\/getting-started-with-golden-showers-pee-play\/\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Pee play<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, often known as \u201cgolden showers\u201d, is the act of urinating on or in front of your partner.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The fact that so many people experience pleasure while they pee (whether or not they\u2019re having sex) makes it easy to understand why people would engage in pee play.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">People engage in pee play for many different reasons. For some people it\u2019s about vulnerability, others love the taboo nature of it, and for some, it\u2019s a visual representation of their partner\u2019s pleasure.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you do want to try out pee play, be sure you discuss with it your partner and have enthusiastic consent from all parties involved. You\u2019ll also want to plan out the best way to minimize mess (or have a good cleanup plan in place).\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<h2><b>We care about the health of your bladder<\/b><\/h2>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Peeing and pleasure have a lot of overlap, but a word to the wise: As much of a relief as a peegasm may be, we strongly discourage you from intentionally holding it in just for the sensation.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Your urinary tract, bladder, and kidneys are all incredibly sensitive. Holding pee in for too long could lead to a urinary tract infection, which can move up to your kidneys. We all have to hold it occasionally and this is unlikely to lead to any harm. That being said, frequently holding your pee for too long can increase your risk of:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Urinary tract infections<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Urinary incontinence<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Stretched bladder<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Kidney stones<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">While there\u2019s nothing wrong with occasionally enjoying the sensation of peeing or accidentally (or purposefully) peeing during sex, you want to take steps to keep your bladder and the rest of your urinary tract healthy and free from harmful bacteria.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">If you\u2019re looking for new ways to experience pleasure, the world is your oyster!
