Unexpected Places To Find Love This Summer

The internet and dating apps are the most popular places to find love for the younger generations. And we have to admit – scrolling left and right looking for your Prince (or Princess) Charming while lounging comfortably on your sofa is convenient.

But saying “we met on Tinder” when someone asks where you met your significant other is rather uninspiring. And sometimes, you need to feel that real-life spark with someone before you commit to endless hours of chatting.

So, if you’re ready to find love outside the world of dating apps this summer, we have you covered!

7 Best Places to Find Love This Summer

1. Local Library

Your local library can be a great place to find love for all book lovers. It’s not as popular to get books at a library as it used to be, with many readers opting for e-books and audiobooks because they’re more convenient, but it’s still worth a try.

What if a cute guy (or a girl) with glasses who will love you and books is just waiting for you between the bookshelves?

Alternative: it’s worth trying the local bookshop as well. Some people prefer to buy their books. If you see someone attractive browsing in your favorite section, come up to them and start a conversation.

At the end of the day, the every bookworm’s ultimate dream is to find someone who would take them to the bookstore and buy them all the books they want.

2. Local Coffee Shops

A great place to meet someone is a local coffee shop. If you work from home and have the flexibility, go over to the coffee shop to work for a few hours a day. It’s a bonus if your local coffee shop is in a good location. Aim for lunchtime hours when all the cute people from the office will be heading for their mid-day coffee fix and smile as if your life depends on it!

Another option would be to go early in the morning on a Saturday to find all the early birds obsessed with personal development and goal setting. They’re the only people who would get up early enough on the weekend…

And even if you don’t find anyone coming into the coffee shop, you might strike up a conversation with the cute barista or the owner of the coffee shop if you’re lucky. So, possibilities are endless…

3. Art Gallery

Art galleries can be great places to find love this summer. It’s usually a free zone where you can walk around, admiring art and cute people around. You might even want to look for special shows that usually happen in the evenings. More people come to the art galleries then, which means more options for you!

Friendly warning: only look for your soulmate in the art gallery if you like art. Otherwise, you’ll be stuck with an artsy hipster who won’t shut up about the magnificent art piece they saw last month when that’s the last thing you want to hear.

4. Healthy Food Store

You might not think to look for a significant other when you go to your weekly grocery shop, but it’s a wonderful place to meet someone.

You can strike up a conversation about your favorite ice cream in a freezer aisle if you see a cute guy or a girl trying to decide whether to go for Ben & Jerry’s or something more original. Or, ask for a recommendation from a cute stranger when you can’t decide between two different yogurt brands in the milk section.

Also, you can tell a lot about a person from seeing their shopping cart. If you see their cart filled with all your favorite foods, you can be assured that food choices won’t be a reason for arguments. And if you see a pineapple in their cart, at least you’ll know they taste good! *wink*

5. Your Own Home

It might sound weird, but hear us out! Sometimes, love finds you in the most unexpected places. And sometimes, that unexpected place can be your home.

You never know who will show up at your doorstep when you order takeaway or groceries or call in an electrician or plumber to fix something that’s broken. So, always keep an open eye for opportunities.

The last time my best friend called in for an electrician to fix her bathroom light, a cute, hardworking, respectful young man showed up. Sadly, she was already engaged, but if she weren’t… Tom, The Electrician, would have been a man worth taking on a date.

6. Dog Walk

Dog owners usually go for a walk at the same time every day, and most have their preferred dog parks or paths that they always visit on their morning walks. So, the chances of meeting someone you fancy often are higher.

And listen, a dog person is the best kind of person. So, if you see someone cute with a dog, you can be assured that their hearts match their good looks!

If you don’t have a dog, don’t worry. You can still visit the park to take a daily stroll in the morning or evening to check out all the cute dog owners and see if one is meant for you.

7. Skill Class

Learning a new skill can be a great way to fill your time and discover new hobbies. Skill classes can also be awesome places to meet new people, make friends, and maybe even find your significant other.

Here are a few ideas for different skill classes if you’re not sure what skill you want to learn:

  • Language class
  • Dance class (perfect way to see how well their hips move)
  • Painting class
  • Writing class
  • Productivity class
  • Ceramics (you’ll get to evaluate their hand movements)

So, if you have been considering taking a skill class to learn something new, this summer might be the best time to start.
