The Facts About Penis Size

Hard Facts About Penis Size

Shocking news! According to a study published in the journal BJU International, it turns out that… there are a lot of penis studies out there floating around the academic ether. Compiling all of them and publishing all of the findings on penis size is what the journal BJU actually did, but we’ve boiled it down to some choice cuts here for your reading pleasure.

The Facts About Penis Size

First of all, it has to be said that there are actually a lot of studies about the penis, and researchers were specific about the ones included in the review. Of the studies they have cited, they only cite ones in which penis measurements were taken by an actual medical professional in order to add a bit more authoritative believability.

They did not include studies of participants seeking penis enlargement, having penis abnormalities congenital or acquired, and they only included studies published in the English language – for what it’s worth knowing that.

Okay so, here’s a little bit about penis length.

For erect penises, the average length is 5.17 inches long (13.13 centimeters).

Flaccid, the average penis is 3.61 inches (9.17cm) in length, while a stretched flaccid penis is 5.21 inches (13.23cm) long – longer than the average erect penis, I’ll point out.

Girth, being the circumference length around the penis, was found to be an average of 4.59 inches (11.66cm) hard, and 3.67 inches (9.32cm) soft.

So now that the standard question of size is out of the way, we’re going to get to the more interesting meat (‘more interesting meat’ is what this author calls his penis, btw) about what this study found and didn’t find about the penis.

You know what they say about big feet, right? Well WRONG, bucko! Of all the characteristics measured, there is no correlation between something like, say, BMI, foot size, finger length or ball size that displayed penis length. Wanna know if a guy has a big dick? Just look at it! Then, figure out how to use that massive manhood!

Okay so one caveat to that previous point – height **might** be related to penis size. Of all the characteristics that were studied to dictate dick size, the most consistent rises and falls in the data could be attributed to height. Let’s call it a mild correlation but not a guarantee.

Surely a burning question on everyone’s mind is ‘how small is a micropenis, really?’. Well, you can put you mind at ease because according to this study, a micropenis is one that is smaller than 2.05 inches (5.21cm) flaccid and 3.35 inches (8.51cm) when flaccid and stretched out. This measurement isn’t the actual definition however – in the study, a micropenis is defined as being 2.5 deviations from the mean.

All this being said, the authors mention that there are some limitations to their review; although they looked at studies measures in constant ways, they cannot account for factors like subjects and their arousal levels, the temperature and how recently they had ejaculated.

If you’re perhaps unhappy with the size of your own penis, know that there are some things to keep in mind when it comes to having a happy and healthy penis include keeping an eye on your cholesterol, weight and blood pressure. During sex, something that can add a bit of fullness to a penis is a wearable cock ring around the base.

However is there a way to make your penis permanently bigger through surgery? We’ve written about this here before and sadly, there is not yet an actual (and safe) way to do so. If your penis size is a cause of anxiety in the bedroom, remember that there are much more ways that standard penis-in-orifice sex to please a partner; cunnilingus, anilingus, fingering and many more methods will get your partner off, and some much more effectively so.
